This session highlights how locally driven conservation practices in the Levant are being translated into national policy frameworks, fostering resilience and equity in the face of climate and biodiversity crises. The Syrian Society for the Conservation of Wildlife will present women-led urban agriculture initiatives enhancing food security and climate adaptation. Experts from Jordan will showcase the Jordan Species Specialist Group, bridging science and policy under IUCN’s Species Survival Commission. Lebanon’s Association for Forests, Development and Conservation will share strategies for integrated wildfire management, while the Lebanon Reforestation Initiative will present a national carbon offset tool linking conservation with climate smart investment. Together, these examples demonstrate how community based leadership, inclusive governance, and innovative tools can drive transformative conservation at scale. The session emphasizes the importance of turning practice into policy to secure rooted resilience across the region.
