Descripción de la sesión
The Hunt takes viewers to Mount Etjo Lodge in Namibia, one of the country’s largest privately rewilded landscapes. Investigative journalist and conservationist Sarah Roberts sets out expecting to cover familiar threats—poaching, drought, climate change—but instead finds herself grappling with a more complex, personal dilemma. Immersed in the daily operations of a family-run conservation enterprise, she confronts the controversial role of hunting in sustaining both wildlife populations and the land itself. The film explores how decisions around resource use, land management, and economics shape biodiversity outcomes, revealing trade-offs that often remain hidden from public debate. Through Sarah’s journey, audiences are asked to consider whether practices that appear morally challenging may, in fact, contribute to protecting species under threat. Honest, provocative, and deeply human, The Hunt is not just a film about Namibia—it is an invitation to rethink how conservation really works, and what compromises might be necessary to keep ecosystems alive.Organised by
