Dana Ahmed is a Law of the Sea Researcher, Ocean Rights Educator & Accessibility Advocate, working at the intersection of law, community, and ocean justice. Her foundation in common law sparked her focus on ocean rights and literacy, leading her to co-create with Red Sea communities through interdisciplinary approaches. She is a National Geographic Young Explorer and founder of EcoSpectrum, an educational organisation that promotes accessible ocean literacy for autistic youth, and the Asfour Initiative, which highlights Bedouin ocean stewardship through ocean art and literacy. Dana is currently working on advancing the rights of coral reefs in the Red Sea through an established coral refuge in Sinai, which she is co-creating with local Bedouin leaders. Through her work, she helps provide viable income for coastal families and centralize vulnerable communities in global climate negotiations.
