Dmitry GORSHKOV

Biografía

Dr. Gorshkov brings over 25 years of experience in biodiversity conservation, protected area management, and environmental policy. He began his career in 1999 as a researcher at the Volga-Kama State Nature Reserve, where he later served as Senior Scientist and Deputy Director. From 2013 to 2018, he was Director of the Sikhote-Alin State Nature Reserve, the largest protected area within the Amur tiger’s range. Between 2018 and 2024, Dr. Gorshkov served as Director of the Biodiversity Conservation Programme and later as Chief Executive Officer of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF Russia). In May 2025, Dr. Gorshkov was appointed Central Asia Coordinator at IUCN ECARO. In this capacity, he is responsible for the strategic management of IUCN’s operations in Central Asia, the development and implementation of regional conservation initiatives, and the advancement of partnerships with national governments, regional institutions, donors, and civil society.
