I have more than 15 years of experience in biodiversity conservation, specializing in protected area management, ecosystem management, capacity development and governance with a focus on transboundary conservation and World Heritage. I bring practical know-how and theoretical insights from environmental sciences, conservation biology, ecology, human geography, sociology, and political sciences. My professional career has involved academia, governmental and non-governmental organizations and independent consultancy. I have rich experience in working with policy-makers, communities, scientists and international organisations. During my career I have initiated, implemented and managed programs and projects with governments, NGOs and major donors including World Bank, KfW, BfN, CEPF, SDC and others. A few examples demonstrating the breadth and depth of my experience include the preparation of a national biodiversity strategy and an action plan, management plans for watersheds and protected areas, species conservation action plans, and studies identifying regional conservation priorities, as well as biodiversity related knowledge generation and dissemination based on case studies from around the world.
