This high-level panel will interrogate the mismatch between global ambition and local reality. In reimagining finance—not as charity, but as strategy—Africa can shift from a passive recipient to an active driver of the global green economy, securing a resilient, equitable, and nature-positive future for the continent.

Descripción de la sesión

Africa stands at the frontline of the climate and biodiversity crises—bearing disproportionate impacts despite contributing the least to global emissions. Climate shocks, ecosystem degradation, and socio-economic vulnerabilities threaten livelihoods, food security, and development gains. Yet, the continent holds unparalleled potential for nature-based solutions, renewable energy, and climate-resilient economies, grounded in rich natural capital and communities who have long stewarded it.
Despite bold global commitments, Africa receives only a fraction of the finance it needs—around 3% of global flows—constrained by fragmented funding sources, high perceived risks, and competing priorities. Traditional aid is not sufficient; the moment calls for unlocking Nature Finance by leveraging Africa’s ecological assets to attract innovative, inclusive, and transformative investment.
This high-level panel will interrogate the mismatch between global ambition and local reality, and spotlight African-led solutions: blended finance mechanisms, direct access for Indigenous and local communities, and models that align investment with Africa’s ecological and development priorities.
