Case studies from the zoo on treating rare species

Descripción de la sesión

In this talk, we present a case study from Al Ain Zoo that shows how wildlife can sometimes face unexpected health challenges. A group of ostriches developed eye problems such as swelling and discharge, which led us to investigate further. Through careful observation and testing, we identified the issue and applied a treatment plan that included proper care, eye cleaning, and supportive treatment. This case highlights the importance of early detection, teamwork, and scientific approaches in zoo veterinary care. It also shows how zoos play a vital role not only in caring for animals but also in learning from these cases to improve conservation and animal welfare.
