Por qué asistir

Learn how to monitor land health in agricultural landscapes using functional biodiversity as a key indicator. This interactive session introduces IUCN’s Land Health Monitoring Framework (LHMF) and offers hands-on experience in applying it across multiple scales—from soil to landscape—to strengthen ecosystem resilience and guide sustainable land management practices.

Descripción de la sesión

This session introduces participants to the Land Health Monitoring Framework (LHMF), a practical approach developed by IUCN to assess land health in agricultural landscapes. The framework uses functional biodiversity—including above- and below-ground biodiversity, and landscape elements—as key indicators to evaluate the capacity of ecosystems to support nature and people over time. Participants will explore how biodiversity can be monitored at different scales. The session begins with a concise introduction to the LHMF, followed by real-world case studies. Small group work will focus on specific monitoring scales—Soil/Field, Farm, Landscape, or National/Regional. Guided by facilitators, each group will identify relevant ecosystem services, select monitoring priorities, and outline strategies. Designed for practitioners, researchers, project managers, and policy professionals, the session builds capacity in biodiversity-based monitoring and fosters dialogue on aligning agriculture with long-term ecosystem resilience and sustainability through practical, scalable tools.
