Climate change, invasive species, biodiversity loss, fisheries, and pollution all impact marine ecosystems. Rapidly, environmental DNA (eDNA) has become a catalytic method for people to explore their own blue backyards and think more holistically about ocean biodiversity, health and conservation outcomes. From microbes to megafauna the power of eDNA lies in its ability to obtain genetic signatures from across the tree of life. However, for meaningful progress – and to break down traditional barriers to entry – the DNA toolkit must become more accessible. This presentation will showcase collaborations with IUCN and UNESCO and demonstrate a suite of new eDNA tools (including AI) and dashboards that are improving accessibility and empowering both decision makers and communities.Organised by
