Por qué asistir

Local communities are successfully leading efforts to protect and conserve species and habitats. Come and engage in a conversation with local organisations from the Indo-Burma Biodiversity Hotspot working to empower local communities and champions of conservation.

Descripción de la sesión

In many countries in the Indo-Burma Biodiversity Hotspot, governments lack the necessary capacity and resources to actively manage species and habitats. With the support of local civil society organisations, mobilized local communities can significantly contribute to efforts to protect and conserve species and habitats important for biodiversity and local livelihoods. It is time to amplify and scale out these approaches, enhance their sustainability, and ensure meaningful local community participation and ownership. This event will profile the work of local civil society organizations, supported by the Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) and IUCN, working to empower local communities to engage in and lead conservation.
