Descripción de la sesión

Balkan region is badly impacted by climate change and forest fires. Despite limited local capacities to fight back, and thank to experiences of other mediterranean IUCN members (Portugal, Spain, France) supported by IUCN Med and the French committee of IUCN, Montenegro is leading an innovative NbS action against forest fire not only using taylor made technics such as spreading of compost, cleaning with donkeys, involvement of schools in educative action (supported by the Office Français de la Biodiversité's methodology), but also targeting its actions with the support of new technologies (GIS Fire prevention model). Upon a "setting the scene" presentation, Milan Gazdic, Director of EPA, will invite other key speakers from Mediterrean region to envisage the scaling up of NbS actions in key biodiversity areas.
