This session focuses on implementing effective, equitable, and climate-resilient coastal and marine conservation in the WIO as highlighted through the Great Blue Wall initiative and the Regenerative Seascapes project. It emphasizes Nature-based Solutions and the Regenerative Blue Economy within area-based conservation measures, highlighting the importance of gender equality and social inclusion. Through panels and interactive discussions with the audience, it aims to identify solutions for more effective WIO-protected areas, promote community engagement, and underscore the importance of scientific research, local livelihoods, and gender-responsive strategies.
