Por qué asistir

Key Biodiversity Areas (KBAs) are an indicator of the SDGs and CBD Global Biodiversity Framework, used by Private Sector to minimise impacts on biodiversity, and by donors to target investment. This session will summarise how to identify KBAs, and how to propose new KBAs using the World Database of KBAs.

Descripción de la sesión

We will provide an overview of how KBAs are being used globally and give an introduction to the criteria used to identify KBAs. Attendees will learn how to apply KBA criteria to species, ecosystems and sites of ecological integrity. Guidance on using the online proposal portal in the World Database of KBAs with practical demonstration will help attendees learn how to make proposals for KBAs. Attendees who have their own computer will be encouraged to login to the database and practice making a draft proposal for a site of interest to them.
