Why attend

The Tech4Nature partnership represents the coming together of two giants from the conservation and ICT sectors, in a model that promotes a shift in the way global biodiversity conservation is done. Attend this session to learn how such collaborations are redefining the limits of what's possible in the conservation world.

Session Description

The Tech4Nature Initiative, a unique partnership between the IUCN and ICT giants Huawei, is challenging perceptions about how the tech industry can use innovation for good. This event will briefly present the partnership, showcasing examples ranging from acoustic monitoring of rarely seen gibbons in China's rainforests to tracking one of Europe's most unique eagles, and present a case for the tech industry to throw its full weight behind the conservation mission.

The talk will be co-presented by IUCN and Huawei and will provide a space for the audience to explore what motivated Huawei to partner with IUCN on biodiversity conservation. It will also provide an opportunity to explore the potential of the ICT sector to scale up support to conservationists and highlight opportunities – such as through the Tech4Nature initiative – for both conservationists and tech companies to join the global movement.
