Hilde Eggermont is a freshwater biologist (PhD, Ghent University) and currently serves as General Administrator of the Research Institute for Nature and Forest (INBO) and Vice President of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). From 2012 to 2023, she coordinated the Belgian Biodiversity Platform, a national science–policy interface for biodiversity, and Biodiversa+, a pan-European partnership of 40 countries supporting biodiversity research. Her work focuses on bridging science, policy, and practice to advance biodiversity conservation across scales.
