Biography

Olivier Rovellotti – Biodiversity and Environmental Data Specialist

Olivier Rovellotti is a seasoned expert in biodiversity data management and environmental technology, currently serving as the Head of Technological Projects at Natural Solutions, a company dedicated to enhancing biodiversity monitoring through innovative digital tools.

With a Master in Software engineering and AI,  Olivier has led pioneering initiatives such as ecoBalade.fr, a biodiversity discovery platform, and ecoTeka, a vegetation mapping tool designed for sustainable urban planning. He also co-founded Le Récif, a living lab and collaborative hub in Marseille focused on ecological innovation and participatory science, including the Observatoire de l'Invisible, a project exploring biodiversity at microscopic scales.

Olivier’s work integrates artificial intelligence, geospatial analytics, and knowledge graphs to map species interactions and monitor ecosystems effectively. He has spearheaded major biodiversity projects like BIOSENTINELLE, which utilizes drone-based technology to track ecological dynamics, and NBSeduworld, a program promoting nature-based solutions in urban development.

In addition, Olivier has contributed to international conservation efforts through the GeoNature platform, enhancing data collection and reporting for biodiversity monitoring programs. He has also supported Houbara bustard conservation by leveraging geospatial tools and ecological modeling to better understand habitat requirements and migration patterns, aiding in the preservation of this vulnerable species.

As an advocate for data-driven conservation strategies, Olivier has contributed to the development of Essential Biodiversity Variables (EBVs) and the Biodiversity Data Cube, advancing environmental business intelligence frameworks. His expertise in landscape partnerships, coupled with his role in crafting CIR and CII funding dossiers, highlights his ability to secure and scale impactful environmental projects.
