Session Description
This interactive World Café session will explore how sustainable blue tourism can drive resilient economies, protect marine and coastal ecosystems, and generate equitable benefits for local communities. Building on insights from the Blue Tourism Initiative and IUCN WCPA TAPAS Group, the session highlights both the opportunities and the challenges in transitioning toward nature-positive tourism models. Participants will engage in dynamic small-group discussions across five thematic tables—biodiversity conservation, community-based tourism, climate resilience, policy and governance, and private sector innovation—facilitated by regional experts. By exchanging best practices and co-developing solutions across the Mediterranean, Caribbean, and Western Indian Ocean, this session aims to identify scalable approaches, foster partnerships, and strengthen the role of blue tourism in conservation and sustainable development. Key takeaways will be captured in a summary report to amplify learning and support broader global efforts.Organised by
