Session Description

This session will showcase the profound role of storytelling in conservation, utilizing selected films from the CMS VATAVARAN archive—Asia’s largest collection of environmental films and From Seoul International Eco Film Festival, to emphasize practical, community-driven solutions to today’s environmental challenges. Seasoned professionals from CMS and IUCN CEC will share how storytelling—as a form of strategic communication—can drive meaningful behaviour change, foster collaboration across sectors, and showcase innovative approaches to addressing conservation challenges. Participants will be introduced to the vital themes addressed in the films, including biodiversity conservation, resilience, and the role of leadership in creating nature-positive solutions. Guided by expert facilitators, participants will explore: • How storytelling can reshape public narratives and influence conservation policies. • Methods to adapt and scale innovative solutions presented in the films. • The potential of partnerships and networks in accelerating global conservation efforts.
