Why attend

Want to scale up effective conservation? The Mediterranean offers a model of how strategic funding and multi-stakeholder partnerships drive impact. Join this session to engage with key players and explore collaborative solutions to finance and scale conservation efforts globally.

Session Description

With a coastline of 46,000 km including 24 countries, the Mediterranean Sea is the largest semi-enclosed sea on the planet. It provides countless resources and services, including food security, and supports economic development and social welfare. Yet, this biodiversity hotspot faces increasing pressures from human activities and climate change, requiring urgent and coordinated conservation efforts. This session will explore how innovative financing and strategic partnerships are driving impact in conservation of marine, freshwater and terrestrial habitats and species. This will be illustrated through key Mediterranean initiatives. Through an interactive Fishbowl discussion, speakers will discuss effective funding mechanisms, multi-stakeholder collaboration, and strategies to scale conservation solutions. Participants will gain practical knowledge on mobilizing resources, aligning funding strategies, and fostering cross-sector cooperation and will contribute to discussions to enhance conservation outcomes in the Mediterranean and beyond.
