The UNESCO World Heritage Convention contributes significantly to conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity. It is unique in its capacity to link the protection of natural and cultural heritage and delivery of this through its network of over 1,200 sites. This event presents key outcomes from an expert meeting on the World Heritage Convention and the Global Biodiversity Framework and engages the audience in identifying actions that promote the use the World Heritage Convention in support of the global biodiversity targets. The event also examines the options to amplify the role of local communities and Indigenous Peoples, as well as the synergies and complementarities among the UNESCO designated areas, to support these efforts.Speaker
