Why attend

The “Hima for Peace” session will showcase how the traditional Hima system, revitalized since 2004, evolves from a biodiversity conservation tool into a community-led mechanism for sustainable natural resource management and conflict resolution, strengthening cooperation, reducing tensions, and empowering local culture, livelihoods, and ecological stewardship.

Session Description

The session opens with a short Hima video and introduction, followed by expert presentations on Hima as a conservation model, linking culture and nature, and its role in IBAs and KBAs. Success stories from Lebanon and the Arab region will be highlighted, concluding with an interactive Q&A.
