Session Description

This 45-minute “pit talk” brings together experts working on river protection across Latin America to share experiences and lessons learned. The panel will showcase a variety of mechanisms including:
- Legal frameworks recognizing rivers as subjects of rights
- National laws and policies
- Protected areas and Other Effective Area-Based Conservation Measures (OECMs)
- Community-led conservation initiatives
- International commitments (Freshwater Challenge)
