Rob Small is Director of Fauna & Flora’s People & Nature programme. This team of interdisciplinary specialists, supports projects and partners across 30 countries in the Americas and Caribbean, Eurasia, Asia-Pacific and Africa to deliver people-centred and locally-led conservation projects. In this leadership role Rob works at the forefront of practice that increases rigour and drives innovative and inclusive approaches across a range of interlinked themes including sustainable livelihoods, enterprise development, agriculture, gender, good governance, equity and social safeguards. With training in the natural and social sciences, including a PhD in Political Ecology, Rob has extensive expertise on the complex intersections between poverty alleviation and biodiversity conservation. Over the past 25 years has lived and worked in some of the world’s most diverse places, including Papua New Guinea, Liberia and Kenya. He is co-chair of the Universal Ranger Support Alliance (URSA) and is a member of the UK government’s Illegal Wildlife Trade Challenge Fund Advisory Group.
