Ana DI PANGRACIO

Biography

Ana Di Pangracio is a lawyer (University of Buenos Aires), specialized in environmental law and policy (Argentine Catholic University). Postgraduate in Gender and Law (University of Buenos Aires). Alumni of the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) of the State Department of the US. She was granted an exchange scholarship by the “Linnaeus-Palme” Swedish Programme. She has over fifteen years ́ work experience on socio-environmental issues in civil society organisations and as a consultant. She is Biodiversity Director at Fundación Ambiente y Recursos Naturales (FARN), based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Since 2013 she is also its Deputy Director. She manages projects on participatory land-use planning, wetlands, native forests, protected and conserved areas, ecological restoration and biocultural corridors, access rights and environmental defenders, human rights-based approaches to conservation and follows the global biodiversity and desertification negotiations. She is a member of the CBD Women's Caucus and takes part in the CBD Alliance. She is an elected member of the UNCCD CSO Panel for Latin America and the Caribbean (2022-2024), and she is an elected IUCN Councillor (2021-2025). She is a member of IUCN´s WCEL, CEESP and WCPA. She was Vice-President of the Forum for the Conservation of the Patagonian Sea (2016-2019). She was Coordinator of the IUCN Argentine National Committee (2015-2021) and President of the IUCN Regional South American Committee (2017-2019). She has been a lecturer at diverse public and private universities, and she has authored several articles on environmental law and policy.

Ana Di Pangracio es abogada (Universidad de Buenos Aires), especializada en derecho y política ambiental (Universidad Católica Argentina). Postgrado en Género y Derecho (Universidad de Buenos Aires). Alumni del International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) del Departamento de Estado de EEUU. Becaria de intercambio del Programa Sueco "Linnaeus-Palme". Cuenta con más de quince años de experiencia laboral en temas socioambientales en organizaciones de la sociedad civil y como consultora. Es Directora de Biodiversidad de la Fundación Ambiente y Recursos Naturales (FARN), con sede en Buenos Aires, Argentina. Desde 2013 es también su Directora Adjunta. Gestiona proyectos sobre ordenamiento territorial participativo, humedales, bosques nativos, áreas protegidas y conservadas, restauración ecológica y corredores bioculturales, derechos de acceso y personas defensoras del ambiente, enfoques basados en los derechos humanos a la conservación, y sigue las negociaciones mundiales sobre biodiversidad y desertificación. Es miembro del Grupo de Mujeres del CDB y participa en la Alianza del CDB. Es miembro electo del Panel de OSC de la CNULD para América Latina y el Caribe (2022-2024) y Consejera electa de la UICN (2021-2025). Es miembro de WCEL, CEESP y WCPA de la UICN. Fue Vicepresidenta del Foro para la Conservación del Mar Patagónico (2016-2019). Fue Coordinadora del Comité Nacional Argentino de UICN (2015-2021) y Presidenta del Comité Regional Sudamericano de UICN (2017-2019). Ha sido docente en diversas universidades públicas y privadas, y autora de varios artículos sobre derecho y política ambiental.
