Why attend

Participants will learn how civil society in Latin America and the Caribbean drives dryland restoration and conservation, influences UNCCD processes, and amplifies Indigenous and local voices. The session offers practical tools for CSO engagement in Land Degradation Neutrality and encourages broader participation in global environmental governance.

Session Description

This session will showcase how Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) from Latin America and the Caribbean are working to protect drylands, strengthen community resilience, and engage in global policy frameworks like the UNCCD. Organized by Drynet partners, it will present concrete experiences from Peru, Argentina, and Dominica, highlighting Indigenous-led and community-driven efforts in sustainable land management, ancestral knowledge preservation, and land restoration. These cases will illustrate how the Drynet initiative enables grassroots engagement, capacity building, and advocacy to support Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN). The session will also spotlight opportunities for wider CSO involvement in LDN implementation and monitoring.
