Session Description
This session will bring together high-level representatives from the financial sector, governments, civil society, and technical experts to explore innovative mechanisms that align financial flows with the conservation, restoration, and regeneration of nature. Organized by the IUCN Regional Office for Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean, together with CAF – Development Bank of Latin America, it will feature UNEP, presenting the current state of biodiversity finance, and the GEF, sharing lessons learned from its extensive project portfolio. The session will highlight experiences such as biodiversity bonds in Colombia, sustainable business models driven by organizations like TIKONEL, and progress in ecological compensation led by the IUCN Commission on Ecosystem Management. Through a dynamic panel, opportunities to transform financial systems towards nature-positive economies will be discussed.Organised by
