Juha SIIKAMAKI

Biography

Juha Siikamäki is Chief Economist and Director of Economy and Finance Team of International Union of Conservation for Nature (IUCN). He has more than 20 years of experience working on the economics of nature, including natural capital, ecosystem services, nature-based solutions, and financing conservation. He has served in many advisory roles, including for the Convention on Biological Diversity on resource mobilisation for the Global Biodiversity Framework and UN Statistics Division for the development of the international statistical standard for natural capital accounting (SEEA EA). He has published extensively, including more than 40 peer reviewed journal articles in leading academic journals in economics and general interest science. He has a Ph.D. and M.S. from the University of California at Davis and M.S. from University of Helsinki. Prior to joining IUCN in 2017, he worked at Resources for the Future (RFF) in 2004-2017, most recently as Associate Research Director and Thomas J. Klutznick Senior Fellow. His former experience also includes Arcadis, University of California at Davis, and Natural Resources Institute Finland.
