Linda Sheehan is Executive Director of Environment Now, a California-based foundation that supports action on waterways, forests, climate change, and rights of nature. Previously, she was Senior Counsel at the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, where she addressed climate change and provided legal counsel. Prior to LDF, she was Executive Director and Co-Founder of Earth Law Center, where she advocated at the local to international levels for nature’s rights. Ms. Sheehan also directed the California Coastkeeper Alliance and Pacific Region office of Ocean Conservancy, where she successfully promoted initiatives to benefit waterways and oceans. For her efforts in “fighting pollution of the Pacific and the streams and rivers that flow into it,” Ms. Sheehan was recognized as a California Coastal Hero. Ms. Sheehan has taught at Vermont Law School, provided invited expert testimony before the U.N. General Assembly, published extensively on nature's rights, and offered new climate strategies through TEDx (http://bit.ly/SheehanTEDx). She holds a B.S. in chemical engineering from MIT, an M.P.P. from U.C. Berkeley’s Goldman School of Public Policy, and a J.D. from U.C. Berkeley Law School.
