Gebremeskel Gizaw Kassa is a seasoned conservation professional with over 18 years of experience in wildlife and natural resource management. He currently serves as Warden of the National Parks Administration at the Ethiopian Wildlife Conservation Authority, where he oversees and coordinates nationwide conservation efforts. Gebremeskel holds a BSc in Forestry and an MSc in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation from Hawassa University’s Wondo Genet College of Forestry and Natural Resources.
Throughout his career, he has held key expertise and leadership roles, including Director of Protected Areas, National Parks & Sanctuaries Coordinator, and Park Warden, contributing to research, strategic planning, policy development, law enforcement, and project implementation. His expertise spans ecological processes, habitat management, and sustainable resource use, strengthened by both national and international field experience. He has played a pivotal role in the conservation of Ethiopia’s endemic and threatened species, including elephants and big cats as well in evaluating the management effectiveness and updating the protected areas database of Ethiopia.
