Jiayi Xu

Biography

Xu Jiayi, Programmes Director at Greenovation Hub, is responsible for formulating the institutional strategy on biodiversity, climate, ocean and emerging thematic project strategies. Meanwhile, Jiayi is tracking international biodiversity-related processes, developing and establishing biodiversity-related tools, guidelines at multilateral platforms and mainstreamed to policy-makers and financial institutions. Jiayi has conducted in-depth research on economic instruments and operating mechanisms for biodiversity conservation in China and at international level.

 

For more than a decade, she has been active in national and international non-governmental organizations in the field of sustainable development, promoting policy research, advocacy and capacity-building projects. She has promoted multilateral and bilateral non-governmental policy dialogues, such as China-U.S., China-India, China-EU and Brazil, and China-Central Asian countries. She provided professional consulting services to a number of international organizations regarding green recovery and China overseas investment . Jiayi was Research Associate on climate change economics at the World Resources Institute and as Special Assistant to the Chief Representative of China. Before that, she started her career as Climate Project Officer at Institute for Environment and Development.

 

She holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Bristol and a Master's degree in Regional Development from the University of Queensland, Australia.
