Session Description

This high-level session highlights the efforts of Libya, Tunisia and Morocco in conserving wetlands, oases, and endangered species through inclusive, community-led approaches and the use of spatial technologies such geographic information system (GIS) and Earth observation satellites. By showcasing national experiences in species Red Listing and grassroots wetland restoration, the session offers participants practical insights into safeguarding fragile ecosystems through collaboration, innovation,. It underscores the importance of empowering local communities and national institutions to lead conservation initiatives that support biodiversity and sustainable livelihoods across North Africa.
