Session Description

This session will explore how protected area networks and transboundary collaborations can strengthen ecological connectivity and management effectiveness through the lens of the IUCN Green List. The session will begin with case presentations from the Mediterranean, South America, and North America, showcasing diverse approaches to building networks of protected areas and advancing Green List commitments across regions.
Following these insights, a high-level panel of experts—including protected area managers and representatives from the IUCN WCPA and institutions across Europe, South America and North America—will discuss the opportunities and challenges of fostering connectivity, transboundary partnerships, and Green List networks.
Designed to be interactive and solution-oriented, the session will highlight innovative practices, identify gaps, and invite participants to share perspectives on how to advance collaboration across borders. It offers a unique opportunity to bridge regional experiences and contribute to a stronger global conservation framework.
