Discover how to practically apply the IUCN SSC Guidelines on Human-Wildlife Conflict and Coexistence in this hands-on session

Session Description

In response to the resolution WCC-2020-Res-101-EN Addressing human-wildlife conflict: fostering a safe and beneficial coexistence of people and wildlife from the previous World Conservation Congress, the IUCN SSC Human-Wildlife Conflict and Coexistence Group developed the first-ever Guidelines on Human-Wildlife Conflict and Coexistence. Published in 2023, the Guidelines provide essential foundations and principles for good practice, with clear, practical guidance on how best to manage conflicts and enable coexistence with wildlife. They have been developed for use by conservation practitioners, community leaders, decision-makers, researchers, government officers and others. This session will provide an opportunity for attendees to apply the 10 guiding questions on real human-wildlife conflict case studies to assess strengths, gaps, and opportunities for successful management of human-wildlife conflict.
