Why attend
Learn concrete, evidence-based lessons on sustaining and scaling environmentally beneficial behaviors beyond pilot phases. Hear what works—and what doesn’t—from GEF evaluations and peers, and leave with practical ideas to strengthen program design, implementation, and M&E for lasting behavior change.
Session Description
The GEF often catalyzes impact through pilot demonstrations that encourage new management approaches, alternative livelihoods, and reduced environmental harm. But do these behaviors persist—and spread—after projects end? Hosted by the GEF Independent Evaluation Office, this session shares findings from an evaluation of behavior change in GEF-supported interventions. It distills factors associated with successful adoption, replication, and scaling of environmentally positive behaviors, as well as reasons efforts sometimes falter. Program and project managers, participants, and other stakeholders are invited to exchange real-world experiences on what has worked—and what hasn’t—across diverse contexts. Attendees will gain practical, actionable insights to enhance intervention design, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation for lasting behavior change.Organized by
