Session Description
In line with the IUCN’s 2030 Global Vision, particularly the ambition to expand area-based protection and improve connectivity across landscapes, this event highlights how the Al Shouf Cedar Society (ACS) has implemented a large-scale conservation initiative in Southern Lebanon. Through the BioConnect project, ACS has enhanced governance and management of sites of ecological importance, identified and established new protected areas and OECMs, and strengthened landscape connectivity. The session will showcase participatory methods, science-based tools, and cross-sectoral collaboration with communities, NGOs, ministries, government agencies, and academic partners. By presenting a practical and replicable model, this event demonstrates how connectivity and inclusive conservation can safeguard biodiversity, build resilience, and directly respond to global calls for transformative action to halt biodiversity loss by 2030.Organised by
