Transporting you 6000 km away, to the Annamite Mountains Bioregion, this talk brings to life the mysteries of the Annamite's spectacular biodiversity and our vision to protect this critical bioregion. Aimed at IUCN members, conservationists and the scientific community.The world's most over-looked bioregion, the Annamite Mountains hosts a high concentration of endemic species facing extinction, such as the enigmatic Saola. The Annamites represents a nexus between culture and nature, an area of linguistic and cultural ‘mega diversity’ and one of the world's biodiversity hotpots.
Sharing ecological, geographical and climatic conditions that converged over millennia to create a living museum of irreplaceable biodiversity and the groundbreaking conservation of the Saola Foundation using innovative technology, ancient and indigenous techniques and knowledge tackle the extinction crisis.
