Why attend

The press conference will see experts discuss IUCN motion 133, ahead of it's debate in the Member's Assembly. The motion, to be voted on by members, concerns a moratorium on the further release of Genetically Modified Organisms and IUCN's policy on synthetic biology in relation to nature conservation.

Session Description

Speakers from science and NGOs, including local communities will present their perspective on the proposed moratorium. They will present information about the potential benefits and risks of technologies involved, and wider ethical questions involved this issue.
