Why attend

The documentary sits at the heart of human rights and Ocean conservation, and calls upon us to ensure our engagement with the Ocean is based on Equity and Justice.

Session Description

Fatal Watch (2025) is a tough and important award-winning documentary that highlights the intersection of marine wildlife crime, conservation, and human rights on the high seas. In light of our recent celebration over the Biodiversity Beyond National Jurisdiction Agreement, and our commitment to our new IUCN Programme (2026-2029), it is time we identify the issues at hand and advance our work. The resolutions we expect to pass during Members’ Assembly will no doubt call upon us to do so. Following the screening, there will be a panel of IUCN Secretariat, Commission, and Member individuals who can speak to this area of work and how IUCN can play a critical role.
