Session with interpretation
Why attend
Combining a 40-minute expert panel with an interactive networking cocktail, the session will invite participants to engage in a keyword challenge. Each attendee will receive a card with a specific term and connect with two individuals whose work relates to it, noting names and shared ideas.
Session Description
The session marks the official launch of the Forest Action Facility (FAF) to a global audience, presenting its mission, structure, and objectives to IUCN members, governments, NGOs, and the private sector. At a time when forests in Latin America are at a tipping point, FAF introduces innovative restoration financing and local partnerships to reverse this trend. With EUR 19 million in seed funding from BMZ (Germany) and a potential additional EUR 10 million for Peru, the initiative will begin with landscape restoration in Central America and Ecuador. The session will showcase early successes in Forest Landscape Restoration (FLR), highlight financing mechanisms, and present opportunities for collaboration. Combining government support, technical expertise, and the voices of Indigenous and rural communities, FAF seeks to foster partnerships, mobilize resources, and invite diverse stakeholders to participate through open calls for FLR proposals—serving as a catalyst to expand its reach and impact worldwide.Organized by
