Why attend

Be inspired by trailblazing subnational and civil-society leaders confronting today’s environmental emergencies. Learn practical ways to mobilize across sectors, build inclusive partnerships, and finance transformative action that protects biodiversity, tackles climate change, and improves lives locally and globally.

Session Description

Subnational governments are on the frontlines of the triple planetary crisis—biodiversity loss, climate change, and pollution—and must develop responses that address these urgent challenges simultaneously at the local level. The complexity of today’s environmental realities calls for approaches that embrace uncertainty, recognize limited control, and foster collaboration across governments and society. Reshaping the status quo requires new forms of governance, bold policies, and models that bridge biodiversity, climate, water, food, and health, while drawing on diverse perspectives to drive transformative change. In this interactive session, subnational governments and civil society leaders from North America and beyond will share case studies illustrating pioneering approaches to global challenges. The discussion will provide transferable lessons on cross-sector mobilization, governance, and financing, offering inspiration and practical ideas to build effective, inclusive partnerships.
