Session Description

This session spotlights the GEF Small Grants Programme’s locally led landscape approach to conserving biodiversity and restoring ecosystems amid climate change. Drawing on 30+ years across 130+ countries, speakers from communities and civil society share practical models, lessons, and best practices for scaling and sustaining impacts that deliver global environmental benefits while improving livelihoods. The event highlights how targeted finance, inclusive governance, and strategic partnerships—bridging traditional knowledge and science—can accelerate Global Biodiversity Framework targets and SDG outcomes. Participants will explore blended and landscape finance, replication pathways, and social inclusion strategies for Indigenous Peoples, women, youth, and persons with disabilities.
