Why attend
IUCN's National, Regional and Interregional Committees (Member Committees) are increasingly recognised as central to the Union, with critical roles in the 20-year Strategic Vision. This meeting will explore these expectations and seek Member Committee views on achieving them. Comprehensive representation is greatly desired for inclusive engagement and input.
Session Description
This meeting is hosted by the IUCN Global Group for National and Regional Committee Development, comprising representatives from all Regional Committees, Commissions, Secretariat, and Council. All 72 National Committees and Country Focal Points are encouraged to attend to explore recent advances in Member Committee development and discuss future challenges and opportunities. We will examine the revised Operational Guidelines, new Action Plan, and implications of the 20-year Strategic Vision and 4-year Global Programme for Member Committees. Recognizing resourcing and communications as key priorities, we'll facilitate breakout discussion groups (in-person and online) to identify critical actions using participant expertise. Digital tools will gather and share insights. Meeting feedback will be presented to the 4th Sitting of the IUCN Members Assembly on October 13th.
