CS-Transition to Nature- Positive
Why attend
A high level ministerial panel moderated and hosted by Tinne Van der Straeten, former energy minister of Belgium, to discuss and draw a roadmap to enable achieving energy and nature objectives in a timely and just manner.
Session Description
By 2030 the world aims both to triple global renewable energy capacity and to protect 30% of the land and the water. Both targets are key commitments by the parties at the UN treaties on climate change and biodiversity. Both targets are crucial to save the planet and combat climate change.GINGR, the Global Initiative for Nature, Grids and Renewables, is a collaborative initiative of IUCN and the Renewables Grid Initiative (RGI). We are developing a comprehensive framework that allows energy actors to report progress towards achieving biodiversity gains and co-created community benefits when deploying wind, solar and electricity grids. GINGR aims to provide standardised tools for Nature-Positive risk-pricing, alongside access to a pipeline of pilots testing the draft framework.
The panel will listen and understand the key challenges the governments and other stakeholders face, hope to provide valuable insights on how both nature and energy targets can be reconciled.
