Why attend

Want to boost protected land by 30% and implement conservation projects shared with hunters as stakeholders? This session on the novel approach for establishing OECMs, allows you to do both! We'll showcase Tuscan hunting reserve engagements, using IUCN’s guidance and offering solutions for Biodiversity Strategies, CBD goals and conservation challenges.

Session Description

This proposal showcases two compelling case studies from Tuscan Hunting Reserves (Aziende Faunistico Venatorie – AFV) demonstrating the successful application of IUCN's OECM methodology. These reserves, typical of Italy and the EU, possess the necessary characteristics for OECM recognition, and potentially they could contribute significantly to national conservation area listings and the achievement of CBD Aichi Target 11, as well as to the EU and member states’ biodiversity strategies aiming at 30% protection.
