They will also have the opportunity to learn practical tools for identifying OECMs, engaging the public and effectively assessing the outcomes of conservation efforts.
Session Description
This session, organized by IUCN in partnership with SEE Foundation and Shanshui Conservation Center and supported by Ministry of Natural Resources of China and IUCN WCPA, will delve into the vital role of Area-based Conservation (AbC) in achieving the 30x30 goal set by the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. We will explore . It will provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of how top-down frameworks and bottom-up efforts can be integrated to enhance the effectiveness of AbC and the tools available to support their implementation. Participants will have the opportunity to learn in a participatory manner about different models of AbC, from the government-led spatial planning, eco-redlining and protected areas systems to local communities and business sector's role in Other Effective Area-based Conservation Measures (OECMs), enabling them to contribute to the global effort of conserving biodiversity and achieving the 30x30 target.Organized by
