Why attend
Join this session to find out about the ongoing efforts to develop a global indicator framework for human-wildlife conflict, a crucial step toward achieving Target 4 of the Global Biodiversity Framework!
Session Description
The escalating frequency and gravity of human-wildlife conflicts (HWC) have garnered global attention, acknowledged by the CBD Parties in the inclusion of HWC in Target 4 of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework at COP15. While included in the Monitoring Framework as a component indicator, an effective way to measure the progress towards this part of the target was lacking and needed to be developed. The IUCN SSC Human-Wildlife Conflict & Coexistence Specialist Group has been convening an open Working Group for the development of a HWC indicator framework, consisting of technical experts and CBD Parties. This lightning talk will serve as an opportunity to present an overview of the work done by the Working Group, the conceptual thinking and the proposed metrics.Organized by
