Why attend

Learn to shift away from the anthropocentric myth driving the Anthropocene and become nature. This session will present scientific evidence, professional, and indigenous wisdom on how to learn to become nature and how to embody this ecological reality into everyday life.

Session Description

Researchers and global institutions, such as IPBES and UNDP, highlight the urgent need to move beyond the anthropocentric myth driving the unsustainable trends of the Anthropocene. We must stop believing that human prosperity can exist apart from ecological resilience and instead accept humans to be an integral part of the biosphere, dependent on its resilience for survival. This session explores how intentional individual and social learning processes can spark this cultural revolution. Academic (Dr. Matteo Giusti), professional (Dr. Cheryl Charles), and indigenous (Luis Camargo) experts will share new research and practices, drawing on the BeNature approach, the updated IUCN research synthesis, and the upcoming 'We Are Nature" report. We will provide insights from diverse knowledge systems and showcase an international, comprehensive, just, and decolonised approach to understand people’s position on Earth.
