Session Description
This session will showcase scalable solutions to restore rangelands—ecosystems vital for biodiversity, climate resilience, and the livelihoods of millions, including Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities. It features the launch of discussion paper on the Economics of Rangeland Restoration, which highlights the economic value of rangeland ecosystem services and presents business cases for sustainable management. Participants will explore and discuss practical restoration models that align livestock systems with biodiversity and climate goals, while engaging in dialogue on policy coherence and investment opportunities. The session aims to foster coalition-building among governments, IUCN Members, Commissions, the private sector, and partners to drive transformative action and scale up nature-positive rangeland management in the lead-up to the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists and UNCCD COP17 in Mongolia.Organized by
