Session Description
The Conservation Finance Alliance together with the IUCN World Commission on Protected Areas (WCPA) and its Sustainable Finance Specialist Group have released the Practice guidance for protected and conserved area finance as part of the WCPA Good Practice Guidelines on Protected and Conserved Areas Series. The guidance presents the case for protected and conserved area (PCA) finance, describes the role and use of finance solutions and economics to achieve PCA outcomes, and presents guidance on how to conduct finance planning in support of these outcomes. Report sections delve into conservation finance by sector including public finance, international cooperation and philanthropy, site-based finance, Indigenous peoples’ finance, and private finance. Sixteen Factsheets present specific conservation finance mechanisms and additional case studies.
