International Coral Reef Initiative
Why attend
The Coral Triangle is home to 75% of the world’s coral species and millions of people who depend on them. This session explores how seascape-based approaches enhance biodiversity health, climate resilience, and livelihoods, and how lessons from the Coral Triangle can inform global reef conservation.
Session Description
The Coral Triangle covering Indonesia, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Solomon Islands, and Timor-Leste, the global epicentre of marine biodiversity, is implementing seascape approaches that connect healthy coral reefs with resilient coastal communities. This session will highlight how the Coral Triangle Initiative (CTI-CFF) position seascapes as the foundation for biodiversity conservation, climate adaptation, and food security. Through interactive dialogue, participants will explore experiences of applying the IUCN Green List to measure the effective conservation for coral reefs outcomes. Speakers from across the region will demonstrate how partnerships among governments, communities, and NGOs are improving coral reef health and scaling sustainable finance and inclusive governance. The session will showcase how Coral Triangle seascapes can inspire resilient ocean solutions worldwide.Organized by
